Mary Lou “Smurf” Gerard, 76, of Kaukauna, passed away on March 16, 2022. She was born in Kaukauna on April 4, 1945. She worked as a bartender at Pork’s Place, where she loved to talk with her customers.
The most important thing to Mary Lou was her family. She also enjoyed gambling, camping, and Elvis. She was a huge Bears fan, and she loved to “go out and give’er.”
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Gerry “Bear” Gerard; parents, Foster Sr. and Rosemary Busse; and siblings, Foster Jr, and Gary.
She is survived by her children, Crystl (Brandon Beilke) Gerard, Jodi (Tucker) Van De Hey, Tracy (Jamie) Voet, Kevin Voet, and Vicki (Harry) Rosin; grandchildren, Blake, Savannah, Toban, Dakotah (Mindy), Destiny (Tony), Samantha Jo (Brett), and Scotty; great-grandchildren, Ace, Aria, Aebrin, and Sawyer; siblings, Sandy (Mike), and Judy (Hazen); and sister-in-law, Shari Joy.
Mary Lou had a special bond with her grandson, Blake, who was there for anything and everything. They were best friends, except for when it came to their NERF gun battles.
A visitation will be held for Mary Lou on Tuesday, March 22, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, at Fargo Funeral Home, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave, Kaukauna. There will be a short service beginning at 4:30 PM.
