Mary Barbara Leader

Mary B. Leader, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was born on September 2, 1931, in Belvedere, IL, the daughter of John and Caroline (Dick) Hammer. Mary was united in marriage to Hugh Leader on November 9, 1954, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha, and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1979. She loved woodworking and carving, her pet dogs and cats, hosting parties, and spending time with people. Mary was an excellent cook, kept an immaculately groomed yard, and mentored many foster children.

Mary is survived by cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Emmaus Ecumenical Catholic Community of Oshkosh.
