Mary Jane Neveau

October 4, 1932 — January 25, 2022

Mary Jane Neveau nee DeGroot (Philipsen) Age 89, born October 4th 1932, passed away January 25th 2022. The daughter of Simon and Linda (Willenkamp) DeGroot. She grew up in Little Chute and graduated in 1951 from St John High School. She was a majorette with the Little Chute Drum and Bugle Corp and went on to lead the village band.

In 1955 she married Wayne Philipsen and they had 5 children. The family were active members of St. Mary’s Parish in Appleton.

She worked in accounts receivable at Gloudemans clothing store and then Advance Industries until her retirement. After retirement she worked at Memorial Florist until she was 80.

In 1978 Mary Jane married Al Neveau and enjoyed snowbirding in Florida for many years. She was an avid Packers fan, loved baking, making candy at Christmas, all of which she shared with her family, jigsaw puzzles, movies and reading.

She is survived by her children Alan “Buzz” (Teresea) Philipsen, Florida, Wanda (Jim) Dorn, Little Chute, Paul (Samantha Kabke) Philipsen, Appleton, Eric (Lori) Philipsen, Appleton; Grandchildren Tracy Hencley, Appleton, Matthew (Jenna) Treder, Appleton, Erika (Troy) Mueller, North Carolina; Great-grandchildren Corbin Hencley, Evelynn, Isabella, Isaiah and Ezekiel Treder, Sullivan, Juniper and Lucille Mueller and Memphis Kabke; Stepchildren Lynn, Bob, Mark, Mary, Lori and their families; Sister-in-law Joyce Neveau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Glen; her husband Al; a son-in-law Scott Treder; her brother-in-law Kenneth Neveau, her sister and brother in-law Anne and Kenneth Steeno and Wayne Philipsen. Also her fur babies Bubbles, Foxy and Inky.

A visitation for Mary Jane will take place on Sunday, January 30 from 5-7 PM at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton.  A second visitation will take place on Monday, January 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 312 S. State St, Appleton from 9-11 AM with a funeral mass at 11 AM and a burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Country Villa in Little Chute for their exceptional care and compassion. She loved it there and really felt at home.
