Mary Van Stiphout passed away peacefully at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna on Wednesday afternoon, July 26, 2005 with her family at her side. Mary was born in Kaukauna on June 12, 1920, daughter of the late Ambrose and Catherine (Verkuilen) Grissman. On October 28, 1939, she married Raymond “Bunny” Van Stiphout; he preceded her in death in October of 1997. Mary was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, trips to the casino, caring for her geraniums, working puzzles, traveling, and camping. In her younger years she was employed at Bastian’s Dimestore.
Mary is survived by three daughters: Donna (Jim) Kress of Green Bay; Patty (Ken) Bodde of Kaukauna; and Bonnie (Don) Martin of Kaukauna; two sons: Dennis (Sandy) Van Stiphout of Kaukauna and Jim (Cheryl) Van Stiphout of Kaukauna; fourteen grandchildren: Susie (Jeff) Cysieyski, Mike (Christine) Van Stiphout, Shari Van Stiphout and her friend Don Chopin, Kerri Keberlein, Lonnie Kress, Keith (Debbie) Urban, Kevin (Becky) Urban, Kacy Urban, Kelly Van Stiphout, Jackie Bodde, Brittney Van Stiphout, Brian Van Stiphout, Jeremy (Sue) Martin, and Tammy (Eric) Diedrick; eighteen great-grandchildren; a sister: Frances (Joe) Portman of Kaukauna; and three sisters-in-law: Margaret Grissman, Alice Grissman, and Irma Van Stiphout, all of Kaukauna. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, a daughter Judy Wilhelm, brothers Herman (Adelia) Grissman, Ed Grissman, Art Grissman, and John Grissman, sisters Catherine (George) Hartjes, Veronica (Bill) Van Toll, and Doris (Dan) Head, sisters-in-law Ruby (Bill) Woelz and Agnes (Bill) Hermes, and a brother-in-law Julian “Pete” Van Stiphout.
The funeral liturgy for Mary will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.
Mom – May the wings of a dove carry you safely to Dad‚Äôs side in heaven.
