Age 82, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Franciscan Care Center with her family by her side. She was born May 26, 1923 in Appleton, the daughter of the late Joseph Carl and Tecla K. (Heinzkill) Hassman. On August 31, 1948 she married George Esler at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. Betty enjoyed cross-stitching, reading and above all her grandchildren and great grandchild.

She is survived by her husband George Esler of Kaukauna; daughters: Mary Ann (James) Nachtwey of Bourbonnias, Illinois and Maureen (Steve) Ulwelling of Little Chute; grandchildren: Emily (Josh) McBroom, Benjamin Nachtwey and Eric Ulwelling; great-grandson, Samuel McBroom and her special foster brother, Edward (Terry) VanBerkel of Kimberly. Betty was preceded in death by an infant brother Joseph Hassman.

A private family funeral was held at St. Joseph’s Oratory Chapel, Green Bay with a Requiem Latin Tridentine Mass. The Rev. Jean-Marie Moreau was the officiant. Interment will take place at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.
