Mary Sue Dietz (nee Johnson), age 73 of Menasha, WI passed away on August 7, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. She was born to Bernard and Ruth (Juen) Johnson in Iowa on May 6, 1949. Upon graduating high school, she became a beautician at Flair Beauty Salon in Menasha. She married the love of her life, Raymond Dietz, in December of 1985 and together they raised their son, Thomas Dietz. Committed to her family, she became a full-time mother, working around the clock to keep the house running smoothly. She adored her old dogs, Buffy and Peaches, loving them unconditionally, as she did everyone.
Mary enjoyed putting together puzzles, which extended to countless hours researching her family’s ancestry. As the oldest daughter of eight siblings, Mary was the second mother of her family. She enjoyed bringing everyone together, coordinating countless holidays and family gatherings through the years. As the family grew larger and more spread out, she kept everyone linked together; anybody could call her for advice, a ride, or just to chat, and she was happy to help.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Ruth; her parents-in-law, Elmer and Evelyn; her sisters-in-law, Loretta Whitnall and Carol Dietz; her brother-in-law, Ted Whitnall.
Mary is survived by her husband, Ray; her son, Tom; her siblings, Larry (s.o. Sharon), Cindy (George), Judy (Chuck), Bernie, Ken (s.o. Kelly), Bill, and Nancy (Bruce); her husband’s siblings, Jim, Robert (Johanna), Judy (Jim); as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial visitation will take place on September 17, 2022 from 9-11 AM at St. Mary Catholic Parish, 528 2nd St, Menasha with a mass to follow at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Fox Valley Humane Association.
