DUFRANE, MARY C. “MITZI”
Mary DuFrane, of Appleton, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Manor Care. She was born March 20, 1919 in Kingsley, Michigan, the daughter of the late Charles and Agnes (Nowak) Sonnleitner. On September 14, 1936 she married Levi DuFrane at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. Mitzi was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. Following Levi's retirement, they were active as house parents in area group homes. She enjoyed crafts, needlework, word puzzles, writing poetry, and most of all spending time with her family. Mitzi had a great sense of humor, was always ready to tell a joke and loved to see others smile.
She is survived by her children: Janice (Gordon) Huolihan, Appleton; David (Yvonne) DuFrane, Townsend; Roger (Barbara) DuFrane, Black Creek; Dennis (Mary) DuFrane, Kaukauna and Sandra (Russell) Hoppe, Appleton; daughter-in-law: Inez DuFrane, Appleton; 18 grandchildren: 46 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; brother: Edward Sonnleitner, Menasha; sisters-in-law: Brownie Sonnleitner, Appleton and Magel Sonnleitner, Appleton. Mitzi is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Levi DuFrane, her son Thomas DuFrane, granddaughter Brenda DuFrane, 3 great grandchildren: Lydia, Kyle and Cole DuFrane, brothers: Karl, Harold, Rollie, Frank, Joseph (twin brother), Adolph and Lawrence Sonnleitner and her sister Helen Maahs.
The funeral liturgy for Mitzi will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton with Fr. Norm Krutzik officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and again at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of mass. A prayer service will take place at 7:00 pm on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Manor Care Recreation Department are appreciated. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Robert Fox and the staff at Manor Care for their love and care.
