Mary Ann C. Steichen, Neenah, age 91, died Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Valley VNA Assisted Living in Neenah, surrounded by family.

Mary Ann was born Nov. 8, 1933, to Henry and Minnie (Van Daalwyk) Kilsdonk in Kimberly, WI.

She married William J. Steichen of Dubuque, IA on May 21, 1955. They were blessed with 51 years together before Bill passed away in 2006.

Before she married, Mary Ann worked at the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton. When her children were older, she worked at Peerless Cleaners in Appleton, and later, in retirement, was an election poll worker in Appleton for many years before moving to Neenah.

Mary Ann was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Parish in Appleton volunteering in many areas, including visits to the home bound.

She was an avid reader, and a huge Green Bay Packers fan. She loved knitting, building 1000 pc puzzles, playing Scrabble, FreeCell, and Sudoku. She enjoyed many years of travel with her husband and family, including wintering in Gulf Shores, AL and camping all summer. Mary Ann loved to swim and would regularly swim across Crystal Lake.

She is survived by her six children, six grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter: Her eldest daughter, Katherine (Mike) Rosing, Madison WI and their sons, Josh (Annie Shao), and Sam Rosing; Ellen (Richard) Blodgett, Appleton and their son Allen; Mary Steichen, Appleton; Mark (Mary Lindstrom) Steichen, Madison and Mark’s son Zander; Patti (Kevin) Knoche, Madison and their daughters, Carly (Philip) Britt (daughter Jeanette), and Katie Knoche; and Mary Ann’s youngest daughter, Sara Steichen, Neenah.

She is also survived by her brother Con (Pat) Kilsdonk; brother-in-law Ray Steichen; sisters-in-law: Florence Doverspike, Loretta Steichen, Rita Steichen, JoAnn (Mike) Malek, MaryLou Konrardy, Juanita Steichen, Judy Steichen; a dear cousin Joy Schmidt-Parizek and husband Paul, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Steichen; her parents Henry and Wilhemina Kilsdonk; step-father Ted Kemps; siblings: Jim, Bob, and Patti Mae Kilsdonk, and Germaine Verage; parents-in-law: Nicholas and Margaret Steichen; sisters-in-law: Delores Kilsdonk, Pat Steichen, Rosemary Severson; brothers-in-law: John Verage, Bob, Glen, and Jack Steichen, Milt Severson, Dick Konrardy; niece and nephews: Jeannie Stoeger, Tom Kilsdonk, Lee Kilsdonk.

Our family would like to thank Valley VNA Assisted Living and Compassus Hospice for their wonderful care of Mom. We would also like to thank the Sacred Heart Pastoral Ministry Team, and all those who have kept Mom in their prayers.

A Catholic Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at SACRED HEART PARISH, 222 E Fremont Street, Appleton, with visitation in the Sacred Heart Room from 9:30 - 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
