Appleton – Mary A. Sorensen, 74, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at ThedaCare Medical Center, Appleton. She was born on December 19, 1943, in Green Bay, the daughter of William and Mabel (Brice) Lamine. Mary Ann enjoyed playing Uno and Scrabble, as well as doing puzzles. She will be lovingly remembered for her love of cooking, watching crime tv and football. Mary Ann was united in marriage to James R. Sorensen in 1993, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2009.
Mary Ann is survived by her dog: Chi-Chi; 2 children: Michelle (Dave) Taves and Heath (Karie) Derks; 4 step-children: Wade and Blake Sorensen, Anne (Lou) Breeler, and Donna (Dick) Wall; 6 grandchildren: Amanda (Michael), Tanner, Alec, Amanda, Nadia, and Aidan; 2 great grandchildren: Taten and Barrett; 4 sisters: Joyce Rott, Phyllis Hinkens, Donna Beasley, and Karen Wenzlaff; as well as many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Ann was further preceded in death by her former husband: James R. Derks; 2 siblings: Dale Lamine and infant Marie Lamine; and 2 brothers-in-law: Jerry Rott and Joe Hinkens.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida St., Appleton. There will be a time for memory sharing at 2:00 pm. Inurnment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated in Mary’s name.
