Mary Ann Kunschke (Peters) age 89, beloved wife of the late Maynard Kunschke passed away peacefully on October 19, 2022, in Kaukauna, WI. She was the loving mother of her late son Tod (Diane), her late daughter Amy, and surviving son Thomas (Emily). Mary Ann grew up in the Clover Leaf Lakes area, and nearby Clintonville, WI. After graduating from high school she enrolled in the Milwaukee School of Beauty Culture, and received her professional beautician’s license.
While living at Clover Leaf Lakes as a child, she met Maynard who, unknowingly, would become her lifelong friend, and husband. They married on August 22, 1953, spending their first year together living on the campus of Lawrence University in Appleton WI, while Maynard was attending college there. After graduation, they moved up the street, and soon after welcomed son Tod, and daughter Amy to their family. In 1961 they finished construction of a new home on Jackson Street, just in time for another son, Thomas.
Mary Ann was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran church, and served for a time as church secretary. She also did volunteer work for the Aid Association for Lutherans. She very much enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of her church family, which extended to bridge clubs, bowling leagues, and much more.
Mary Ann cherished various trips taken with her husband, at the top of the list were Arizona, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and Europe. But she was just as happy to spend time at their cottage in Mount Morris, WI, just lying in the sun, or catching the occasional bluegill.
Along with her youngest son, Thomas, Mary Ann is survived by her grandchildren Eric, Jennifer, Keith, Jaclyn, Kalyn and Cassie. She is further survived by 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents Ervin and Ethel Peters, Maynard’s parents Walter and Anna Kunschke, her younger brother Dan Peters, and sisters-in-law Charmaine Olson, and Margaret Peters. Mary Ann's oldest brother Mike, while surviving her in passing, died on November 10, 2022.
Visitation and a memorial service for Mary Ann will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton, WI, on Friday November 18th, 2022, at 11:00am. Friends and family may gather at the church from 10:00am until the start of service.
