Mary Ann Jokela

Mary Ann Jokela, loving wife and mother, Appleton passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice on November 24, 2006. Mary Ann was born on March 14, 1935, in Brantwood WI to Paul and Anna Peterson. She was married to Richard “Dick” Jokela on August 30, 1958. They made their home in Appleton for the past 40 years.<br>Mary Ann was employed by Bank One Trust in Appleton for many years. She retired in 1995 and spent much of the next 10 years traveling the US and Canada with Dick. Mary Ann was an avid bicyclist and estimated that she and Dick rode over 10, 000 miles during that time. <br>She will be remembered as a grandmother who was very proud of her five grandchildren. She always enjoyed attending their school and athletic events.<br>Mary Ann is survived by her husband Richard, her daughter Jill (Dan Lickel) and their children Kirsten and Aaron of Madison, her daughter Jane (Steve) Garrow and their children Katie, Laura, and Liz of Appleton, and her son Roger of Nashville TN. She is further survived by three sisters, Shirley (Charles) Severson, Brantwood, Virginia Abrahamson, Green Bay, and Patricia Peterson Hanke, Chippewa Falls, a sister-in-law, Carol Peterson, Brantwood, and many nieces and nephews.<br>She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Anna Peterson, her brothers Raymond and Peter, and her mother-in-law Florence Jokela. <br>A celebration of her life and memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2006. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri-County Chapel from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and will be forwarded to the “Creating Hope” Lung Cancer Campaign at the University of Wisconsin Paul P.
