Mary Elizabeth Anderson

Mary E. Anderson, 91, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1933, to her parents James and Lucy (Fronterhouse) Johnson.

She was born and raised on a dairy farm in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from Mabelvale High School. Mary and her late husband Wally met through a mutual friend. They were pen pals for a year before they started dating. Once they officially started dating, it wasn’t long before they were married. Together they raised 3 kids. She was a pianist at Waukesha Bible Church for about 30 years. She also worked as a teacher’s assistant and church secretary.

In her free time, she loved being outside. She went hiking, canoeing, and camping. She liked to bake and decorate wedding cakes. She valued spending time with her friends and family, especially playing with her grandkids.

Mary is survived by her children: Bob (Robin) Anderson, Karen (Jeff) Christopher; grandchildren: Kerry (Eric) Friedrichsohn, Kathleen (David) Swarbrick, Emily (Michael) Niemeyer, Nathan (Paige) Christopher; siblings: Ray Johnson, Nancy (Curtis) Griffith; sister-in-law: Helen Cummins; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wallace “Wally”, brother Richard Johnson, daughter Judy Dawson, and grandson Andrew Frey.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N Superior St, Appleton WI 54911. Visitation will be from 9am – 11am with the memorial starting at 11am. The service will be officiated by Pastor Emeritus Dr. Dennis Episcopo of Appleton Alliance Church.
