Age 65, passed away in Appleton after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 11, 2006. She was born in Milwaukee on January 19, 1940, daughter of Wanda (Paprocki) Wanta and her father who preceded her in death, Nicholas Wanta. Mary was very involved in crafts and loved the outdoors, especially camping. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children: Lloyd (Trish) Buckner of West Allis, Christine (fiance, Richard Feely) Hoderny of Neenah, Patrick (Charlene) Buckner of Milwaukee, Michael (Tricia) Buckner of Menasha, Joseph (Diane) Buckner of Menasha, James (fiance, Barbra) Buckner of Appleton; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; mother, Wanda Wanta; brother, Nicholas (Pat) Wanta of Palm Springs, CA; sisters: Rita Sheehan of Milwaukee and Patricia Frank of Waukesha; aunt, Susan Klister of Waupaca; and is further survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father; and a sister, Barbara Mews.
The memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 3212 S. Oneida Street, Menasha. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Appleton Medical Center, especially the oncology staff and Dr. Anthony Phillips.
A memorial fund in Mary's name is being established. Memorials will be given to cancer research.
