Age 66, died on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at his home, surrounded by his family. Marvin was born on February 29, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Marvin Algot, Sr. and Sybil (Keeton) Swanson. On November 9, 1974, Marvin married Marilyn Bigsby, and they have enjoyed over 28 years of marriage together. He loved to travel, especially visiting Civil War battle sites. Marvin also enjoyed reading, history, fine arts, theater and trivia. He was a member of the Masonic Order. Marvin is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his 2 daughters, Michelle (Wade) Tuchscherer; Sarah Swanson; his grandson, Alec Tuchscherer; sister, Sharon (Fran) Roxas; and nieces and nephews, Craig (Marcia) Roxas, and their children, Ashley, Natalie and Jordan; Lynn (Bill) Kelly, and their children, Erika, Ryan, Connor and Hunter; John (Kate) Roxas, and their daughter Rachel; and Kate Roxas. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at ST. TIMOTHY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 473 7th Street, Menasha, with Rev. John Krueger officiating. The interment will be held at Rienzi Cemetery, Fond du Lac. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, December 6, from 4 until 7 p.m., and again at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Marvin was a man with a great sense of humor. He loved to tell jokes and make humorous observations, even during his illness. Making people laugh was very important to him.
