Marvin Coenen, age 74, passed away unexpectedly after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, March 17, 2008, at the Appleton Medical Center. Marv was born in Little Chute on September 15, 1933, son of the late Alphonse and Marcella (Hietpas) Coenen. He attended St. John School in Little Chute, and for many years owned and operated Ace TV & Appliance in Kimberly. Marv was very involved within the Kimberly community over the years. To name just a few of his loves, he was a member of the American Legion Post #60, served as a Trustee for the village for over twenty years, enjoyed the Heart of the Valley Senior Service Club, belonged to the Golden Agers, and was currently serving as the Marshall of the Eastern District of the Knights of Columbus.
Marv is survived by his wife: Alice Coenen of Kimberly; a son: Mark Coenen of Kimberly and his daughters Kimberly Coenen of Milwaukee and Alexandra Coenen of Kimberly; a daughter: Charlene (Gary) Van Gheem of Green Bay; a sister: Mary Weyenberg of Darboy; a brother: Gerald (Shirley) Coenen of Wrightstown; his mother-in-law: Anna Weyenberg of Appleton; and all of Alice's brothers and sisters: Jane (Ray) Menting of Kimberly; Elizabeth (Ben) Mischler of Combined Locks; Leo (Linda) Weyenberg of Mississippi; Julie Verstegen and Dennis of Washington; Kathryn (Richard) Peterson of Darboy; and Rose (Merle) Hietpas of Kimberly. Marv is also survived by his special little friend: Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents Alphonse and Marcella Coenen, Alice's father Royal Weyenberg, sisters-in-law Ramona (Ralph) Stark, Carol Weyenberg, and Diane Rohan; and a brother-in-law Robert Weyenberg.
The funeral liturgy for Marv will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 24, 2008 at ST. JOHN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 Pine Street in Little Chute with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Friends may call at the Jansen Fargo Funeral Home in Kimberly on Easter Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the liturgy. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home on Sunday. A memorial fund is being established in Marvin's name.
