MARTIN S. VAN VONDEREN

Age 94, died Monday, October 28, 2002, at the Weyauwega Health Care Center. Martin was born on May 25, 1908, in Little Chute, to the late John and Johanna (Thyssen) Van Vonderen. He married Eleanor Van Landghen on October 10, 1939, in Little Chute; she preceded him in death on July 19, 1997. Martin was a respected and loved husband, father and grandfather who well provided for his family and especially enjoyed spending time with them. He was employed at Fox Valley Paper Company for over 30 years and was well-known for his tinkering and ability to repair mechanical items. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Nabbefeld, Appleton and her special friend Robert Peterson, Hortonville; his grandson, Troy Nabbefeld, Appleton; his granddaughter, Laurie Gonnering, Appleton; his sister-in-law, Louella Van Vonderen, Kaukauna, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sally A. Nettekoben; his son, Martin W. “Butch” Van Vonderen; his brothers, Arnold (Hattie) Van Vonderen and Joseph Van Vonderen; and his sister Harriette (Jack) Hammen. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2002, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton, with Fr. William Hoffman officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call directly at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to his niece Barbara Mauthe; Dr. Steven Dernlan and his staff; and the staff at Weyauwega Health Care Center, for their loving care.
