At the age of 85, Martin passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Brewster Village, Appleton. He was born on August 21, 1920 in Kimberly, the son of Martin and Johanna (Vander Logt) Wyngaard. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army. Martin worked for Kimberly Clark as a mason until his disability. Martin was always very proud to say he played semi-pro football for the flying Dutchmen of Little Chute and also coached football in his earlier years for Holy Name (now Holy Spirit). His enjoyment in life was to be a part of the Kimberly Legion Baseball and watching his sons and grandchildren playing sports. He was also very active in the American Legion Post #60, Kimberly, and had just been awarded for 50 years of service. Among his many hobbies were camping at Enchanted Forest and playing sheepshead at Peerenboom’s.
Martin is survived by his daughters: Sharon (John) Rubsam of Townsend and Mary (Greg) Jansen of Kimberly; sons: Gary (Amanda) Wyngaard of Hortonville, Terry (Jane) Wyngaard of Sherwood, Marty (Jackie) Wyngaard of Kimberly and Bob (Julie) Wyngaard of Kimberly; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerome (Geraldine) Wyngaard of Kimberly; and a sister-in-law, Jerry Wyngaard. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary of 45 years; granddaughter, Cherise Loughman; sisters: Elaine Murphy and Germaine Kasten; and a brother, Louis Wyngaard.
The funeral liturgy will be at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, Kimberly Campus, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the liturgy. Burial with a military honor service conducted by the William Verhagen Post of the American Legion will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2005 at Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly.
The family would like to extend a “special thank you” to the staff in the Symphony Unit at Brewster Village for all the extra care and devotion shown to our Dad. Also, a very special thanks to Linda Schuh and Sue Dupont for always being there for us.
