Age 79, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at the Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. He was born October 13, 1925, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of the late Rev. Traugott and Ida (Tiede) Deguisne.
Marty spent his childhood in Danzig, North Dakota, and was a 1943 graduate of the Bridgewater, South Dakota high school. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning home, he attended Wartburg College as a GI veteran in Waverly, Iowa, and was a clerk with the Iowa Highway Patrol.
Martin then moved to Wisconsin to help his father, a pastor in Cicero, Wis., whose health was declining. He met Anna Olson in Appleton, and they were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church on July 31, 1960. Martin was employed with the Giddings and Lewis Machine Tool Company’s Bickford Division in Kaukauna for 36 years, and when the plant closed, he was an inspector with them.
He served as the Town Clerk for the Town of Kaukauna for ten years. Marty enjoyed photography, and took many pictures over the years.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Anna; a brother, Ted Deguisne, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Sophie Deguisne, of Minneapolis, Minn., Hilda Koch, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Reta Paetzold, of Bellevue, Wash.; there are eight nieces and eight nephews; and a special nephew, James (Kathy) Seidel. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Traugott Deguisne and Ida Deguisne Domke; a brother, Arnon; his sisters, Lena (Rev. Ervin) Seidel, Hertha Deguisne, Ida (Don) Limbo; his stepfather, Rev. Chris Domke; brothers-in-law, Lincoln Koch and Don Paetzold; and a sister-in-law, Fern (Olson) Goehring.
Funeral services for Martin will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 North Oneida Street, Appleton, with Rev. Larry Matthews officiating. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum, Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services directly at the church. A memorial fund is being established in his name.
