Malitz, Martha E.
(Peters)
Appleton
Age 92, passed away peacefully at Brewster Village on Friday, January 10, 2003. Martha was born in Gresham, Wisconsin on August 7, 1910, daughter of the late Rutger and Mary Ann (Sperberg) Peters. On February 26, 1944, she married Harry Malitz in Clintonville. Martha was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. She will be remembered for being an unconditionally loving person. Many people often grew to love Martha shortly after meeting her. When one was with Martha, it did not matter what else was happening in the world, you always felt welcome and safe. Scrabble and solving crossword puzzles were some of her favorite pastimes. Martha loved to go out for lunch, but more so for the dessert than for the main course.
Martha is survived by two daughters: Sandra (Tom) Stoeger of Appleton and Sharon Ford of Appleton; five grandchildren: Greg Steinberg of Texas, Shelly Hornback of Ohio, Joy (Mark) Goss of Texas, Tracy (Scott) Schimmers of Kimberly and Virginia (Shane) Davis of Minnesota; two great grandchildren: Jacob Hornback and Bryce Schimmers; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Steinberg of Appleton.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband Harry, her parents; a son, Gordon Steinberg; and her four sisters and a brother.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Matthews officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
The family extends a very special thank you to Brewster Village for the wonderful loving care that she received.
A memorial in Martha’s name is being established.
