Marlene Eleanor Brown, age 83, of Menasha, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, at Heritage Hospice Residence in Appleton. On September 12, 1931, Marlene was born in Menasha to the late Milton and Eleanor (Zolkowski) Schmerein. She was united in marriage to William Brown on June 17, 1952 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Menasha. Marlene had worked for Menasha Corp., as a receptionist for First National Bank and McMahon and Associates retiring after 8 years of employment. Marlene enjoyed making ceramics and reading. She also loved spending time with her “golf girls” golfing and going to lunch. Every day at 3:00pm, Marlene and Bill would stop what they were doing and start playing cribbage.
Marlene will be missed by her loving husband of 62 years, William “Bill”; their children: Todd (Jacqueline) Brown, Timothy Brown, Tammy (John) Van De Loo, and Thomas (Sarah) Brown; grandchildren: Thad (Amanda), Tyler, Taylor, Leah, Jade, Jacob; two great-grandchildren: Haley and Brady; and a sister, Mildred Gottfried.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Schmerein.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 4:30pm on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Wichmann Funeral Home – Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee Street in Menasha with Fr. Joe Mattern officiating. The Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place in the Garden of Valor at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah.
