Mark R. Vandertie

March 19, 1951 — August 27, 2021

Mark R. “Bucky” Vandertie, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 27, 2021.  He was born on March 19, 1951, son of the late Walter and Lucille (Ebert) Vandertie.  He grew up in Appleton, but for the last seven years had made his home in Chilton. Mark enjoyed his younger years working in the kitchen at Sergio’s and later in the Lawrence University cafeteria.  He loved riding many brands of motorcycles, with his favorite being Moto-Guzzi.  He also enjoyed woodworking and spending time fishing.

He is survived by three brothers: Ron (special friend Rosie Poquette) Vandertie of Appleton, Lee (Connie) Vandertie of Grand Chute, and Mike (Lori) Vandertie of Minnesota; a sister: Patti Olson and Greg Samson of Tower Lakes, Illinois.  His nieces and nephews are Eric, Ryan, Kari, Jenna, Thad, and Trent.   Further survived by Uncle Milton and Aunt Delores Rodrian, as well as numerous cousins.   Mark was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Lucille Vandertie and a brother-in-law Jim Olson.

A private family graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton on Thursday, September 23, at 2:30 PM.  Friends are welcome.

Special thanks to the people at Calumet County Social Services, Lakeland Care, Almost Family, and Stanton House, Wichmann Funeral Homes and Terryl Wolfrath for taking good care of Mark.  We thank you for all for your love and concern.
