Mark Sternhagen, age 66 of Appleton, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020, following a brief illness. Mark was born October 8, 1953, son of the late John and Dorothy (Swanson) Sternhagen. He was a 1971 graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School, and on November 3, 1973, married Marjorie Bosin at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville.
Many will remember Mark for helping as a group leader for the Lutheran Pioneers at St. Matthew Lutheran, coaching Little League as well as baseball at Fox Valley Lutheran. Sports was a big thing for Mark – if he wasn’t watching sports, he was probably talking sports. He had many other loves and pursuits as well. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin in Florence, Wisconsin. Each year, he planted seeds that produced flowers and vegetables in his garden which he often shared with family and friends. Travel was also a favorite pastime. He and Margie visited many of the National Parks, and enjoyed spending time on cruise ships seeing different parts of the world. More than anything, he enjoyed time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.
Mark is survived by his wife: Margie Sternhagen; two children: Jessica West and her children Jaelyn and Devin; and Jeremy (Amanda) Sternhagen and their children Addison and Dmitri. Mark is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Kathy (Dennis) DeGrave, Laurel Sternhagen, Craig (Julie) Sternhagen, Karla (Frank) Suheski, Sheri Sternhagen Pingel, and Dawn (George) Mills; and a brother-in-law: Don Groth. Margie’s family includes Audrey (Bill) Borchardt, Debbie (Mike) Emhoff. Ken (Marie) Bosin, Gene Retzlaff, Patty Bosin, and Linda Bosin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ralph (Linda) Sternhagen, sisters Donna (Ray) Williams and Betty Groth, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.
The Christian Funeral Service for Mark will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 10, 2020, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, located at 705 E. Greenfield Avenue in Little Chute. Rev.
