Mark Spindler, 68, of Appleton passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, October 19, 2013.
Mark was born on February 20, 1945 to Herman and Theresa (Falk) Spindler, in Wausau. He grew up the son of a farmer and was proud of the skills he learned on the farm (hard work, humbleness and dedication). Mark was a veteran having served in the US Air force. On June 14, 1969 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Hils in Phoenix, Arizona. Mark worked as a HVAC Supervisor at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, Wausau, and retired from the Appleton Area School District in April of 2011 as the Mechanical Services Supervisor. He was very active in his churches throughout the years, from Peace UCC in Stevens Point to Grace UCC in Wausau and most recently Memorial Presbyterian Church in Appleton. Mark always took pleasure in hearing someone “crank on” the organ, and was happy to lend his expertise on building committees. He was a member of International Maintenance Institute for 21 years. He was a volunteer for two fire departments (Town of Hull and the Village of Stratford) and enjoyed the camaraderie of singing with the barber shoppers in Stevens Point.
Mark is survived by his wife Patricia Spindler, two children; Nancy (Terry) Van Der Loop, Appleton, and Doug (Mary Pawlak) Spindler, Plover 4 grandchildren; Emma, Audrey, Bennett, and Caroline, a sister, Judy (Arnold) Polege, Stratford, a brother, Russ (Shelia) Spindler, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Mark will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 803 E. College Avenue with Rev. Michael Goodwin officiating. Friends of the family will gather directly at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Ebenezer UCC church Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the 7th floor Oncology department, Dr. Yao and his staff and all of the family and friends at M.P.C. for their care and support during this difficult time.
