Marjorie Melchert, passed away at St. John’s Hospice in Denver on June 15, 2006 at the age of 77. Marjorie was born May 6, 1929, daughter of the late Fred and Adeline (Scheibe) Buss. She was baptized at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Freedom and confirmed at. St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton. Following her marriage to Gilbert Melchert on June 5, 1948, she became a member of Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church. Gilbert and Marjorie were married for fifty-four years and eleven months until his passing in May of 2003.
She enjoyed golf and traveling for many happy years with her husband. Marjorie was a life member and Past President of the Harvey Pierre VFW Post #2778 Auxiliary. She retired from Koehn Insurance Agency in December of 1988. In 2004, she relocated to Littleton, Colorado, in order to spend more time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters: Janine (Ted) Schulz and Tanya (Mark) Tesch; four grandchildren: Nicole Schulz, Alyssa Schulz, Brayden Tesch, and Baylee Tesch; and a sister: Ellen Beyer. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, her parents Fred and Adeline Buss, brothers Lawrence Buss and Victor Buss, and sisters Ethel Timm, Mildred Arnold, and Gertrude Knaack.
Funeral services for Marjorie will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Star of Hope Chapel at Highland Memorial Park, 3131 North Richmond Street in Appleton with Rev. Joel Zank of Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment will follow. Friends may call directly at the cemetery chapel on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service.
