Marjorie Fischer, age 96 of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, January 4, 2018. Marge was born in Antigo on November 24, 1921, daughter of the late George and Mary (Jossi) Servi. On June 20, 1939, she married Robert “Bob” Fischer in Antigo. Bob preceded her in death in 2011 after being blessed with over seventy years of marriage.
Marge was a true homemaker - she kept busy gardening, baking, and sewing. When her daughters were young, she hand-made all their clothing. She made afghans for every family wedding and for every new birth, and gifted pot holders and dish cloths to just about everyone she knew. She loved to cook on her old-fashioned wood stove, spending time at family get-togethers up north, and enjoyed the accordion playing of her daughter Mary. She was a 50-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and before moving to Kaukauna belonged to the Christian Mothers Society at St. Boniface Parish in Aniwa.
Marge is survived by five loving daughters and their families: Mary Skinner of Combined Locks, Kathy (Bob) Zimmerman of DePere, Barb (Lyle) Diedrich of Kaukauna, Lori (Steve) Werth of Kaukauna, and Kris (Jim) Anthony of Appleton; a daughter-in-law: Juanita Fischer of Long Prairie, Minnesota; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister: Luella Adamski of Antigo and four sisters-in-law: Jan (Russell) Asala of Racine, Shirley Servi of Racine, Carol Halambeck of Deerbrook, and Dolores Fischer of Birnamwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son Paul in 1962, a son Robert, Jr. in 2009, her husband Robert in 2011, a son-in-law Ronald Skinner, seven brothers, four sisters, and countless in-laws.
The funeral liturgy for Marge will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna. Fr. Tom Pomeroy will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
