Marion C. Broeren

July 31, 1913 — September 7, 2007

Marion Broeren, age 94, passed away at St. Paul Villa early on Friday, September 7, 2007, with her loving family at her side. Marion was born in Forest Junction on July 31, 1913, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Jaeckels) Micke. On November 25, 1937, Marion married Gilbert “Gib” Broeren at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown; Gib preceded her in death in January of 1990. As a young woman, Marion taught school in the area, and in the early 1940’s joined her husband as he started Gib’s Skelly Oil. The couple retired in 1970. Marion will be remembered for her love of playing cards, bingo, bowling, sewing, quilting, and reading. She was proud to have been a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown and its Altar Society.

Marion is survived by four children: Judy (Bob) Eiting of Kaukauna; Jerry (Shirley) Broeren of Kaukauna; Bob (Karen) Broeren of Hollandtown; and Karen (John) Ploederl of Kaukauna; twelve grandchildren: Lynn Gerrits, Elmer (Peggy) Eiting, Cheryl (Ken) Hammen, Scott (Jada) Eiting, Chad (Kim) Broeren, Craig (Sunshine) Broeren, Robyn Broeren and her special friend Mike Laib, Beth (Troy) Rosin, Robert Broeren, Shannon (Ryan) Reader, Jeremy Ploederl and his special friend Vanessa Francl, and Mandy Ploederl and her fiancé Jeremy Van Schyndel; fourteen great-grandchildren: Willie Gerrits, Tracy (Mike) Wittmann, Brady Eiting, Peyton Eiting, Christopher Hammen, Courtney Hammen, Bailey Broeren, Michaela Broeren, Raya Broeren, twins Porter and Keaton Broeren, Blayne Otto, Braylon Broeren, and Braeden Reader. She is further survived by a brother: Jack Micke of King, Wisconsin; three sisters: Gertrude Van Dyke of Kaukauna, Sr. Mary Grace of Manitowoc, and Betty (Ray) Sanders of Little Chute; a sister-in-law: Jeanette Micke of Minnesota. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gib in 1990, a grandson Ashley Broeren, brothers Leo Micke, Sylvester Micke, Joseph (Minnie) Micke, Alphonse Micke; sisters Mildred (Orrin) Romenesko, Agnes (Louis) Mischler, Catherine Micke; a sister-in-law Audrey Micke, and brothers-in-law John Reichel and Clayton Van Dyke.

The funeral liturgy for Marion will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH – ST. FRANCIS SITE (Hollandtown) with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the church on Tuesday morning after 10:00 AM. A memorial fund is being established.

The family would like to thank Marion’s many friends from Golden Venture Apartments for their support and care over the years. Marion appreciated your friendship more that you will ever know.

The entire staff at St. Paul Elder Services also has our thanks, as well as the many caregivers from Affinity Hospice. We will forever remember your kindness.
