Marilyn R. Stein, age 82, of Appleton, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the Appleton Medical Center. She was born on March 13, 1933, to the late Herman and Erma (Schroeder) Bahr. Her step father was Edwin Schultz. On August 16, 1956, she married John Stein and they enjoyed 39 years together.
In her 82 years, she shared her unique words of wisdom with all of her family and friends. She enjoyed sharing in the lives of her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter, as well as many close nieces and nephews. Marilyn had a strong faith in God, and was especially fond of meeting with her group of “Church Girls”.
Through the years, Marilyn worked at Riverside Paper, Tuttle Press, and later made her “rounds” as a volunteer at Appleton Medical Center. She was willing to try new things and developed many hobbies including knitting afghans, sweaters and slippers, scrapbooking, bowling, crocheting, painting ceramics, swimming, bird-watching, playing Bingo, and doing puzzles.
Marilyn is survived and will be missed by her daughter: Melissa Schumacher; son-in-law: Robert Schumacher and granddaughter; Riley. She is further survived by her brother-in-law: Francis Stein; and nieces and nephews: Gary and Jan Heiden, Dean Heiden, Jim and Alice Heiden, Joy Lynn and Harold Ellenbecker, Tom Heiden and Bonnie Daniels, Steve and Pam Heiden, Laurie and Gene Linzmeyer, Jill Stephani and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: John; sister: Joyce Heiden; brother-in-law Gilbert Heiden; and sister-in-law: Mary Stein.
The funeral service for Marilyn will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at BETHANY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 530 West Parkway Blvd. Appleton, with Rev. Mark Henke officiating. A time of visitation will be held at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund had been established in Marilyn's name. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com
