Marilyn Lee, age 79, of Sherwood, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012. She was born on May 26, 1933 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of Elvin M. and Bertha A. (Gilbertson) Duerre. She graduated from Bismarck High School, attended Bismarck Junior College and St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Marilyn obtained her degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, and taught for nineteen years in the Menasha School district, retiring in 1991. On August 23, 1953 she married Orin Richard Lee in Bismarck, North Dakota. They lived in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Appleton and Sherwood during their married life.
Marilyn was a very active and faithful charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton. In addition, she was a dedicated member of Sons of Norway Lodge 491, Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society, and the National Church Library Association. She belonged to various book clubs and Bible study groups.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dick Lee; three sons: David Orin Lee of Madison; Steven Eric Lee of Cambridge, Minnesota, and James Richard Lee of Appleton; four cherished grandchildren: Mark, Johnathan, Amy and Kira. She is also survived by two brothers: Donald Duerre and Dennis (Verna) Duerre; nephew, Randy (Lisa) Duerre, all of California.
The funeral service for Marilyn will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2330 E. Calumet Street, Appleton. Rev. Gary Nokleberg and Rev. Roger McQuistion will be officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service.
