Marilyn E. Grant

Marilyn Estelle Grant, age 88, of Appleton, WI passed away peacefully on January 29, 2020 at St. Joseph Residence, New London, WI.

Marilyn was born on September 17, 1931 in Appleton to the late John A. Schneider and Lucille A. (Driessen) Dorn.

After high school she moved to Tucson, Arizona, but returned to Appleton after 12 years. Marilyn held various jobs during her working years, but her favorite was as a security guard for HC Prange’s in Downtown Appleton.

In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, board games and watching old movies while eating popcorn. Marilyn always saw the beauty in everyone which is why, most of all, she loved spending time with her family, friends and her two sons, whom she fiercely loved.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Bruce (Darlene) Grant; daughter-in-law, Michele Grant; grandchildren, Brian (Shannon) Grant, Tyler (Erin) Grant, Eric (Leah) Grant, Nikki (partner, Tyler), Stephanie Grant and Bailey Grant; great-grandchildren, Carter, Jayden, Drew, Bennett, Charlie, Sofia, Owen, Ayden, Victoria and Emaline; brother, Jack (Addie) Schneider; brother-in-law, Robert La Count; step-grandchildren, Bobbi Jo and Michael; step-great-grandson, Blaze; many other dear family and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dean; sister, Virginia La Count; step-father, Bill Dorn; and step-brother, Tom Dorn.

A Funeral Service will be held for Marilyn at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, WI 54911. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 9 AM to the time of service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Joseph Residence- Monarch Meadows Wing (Emily, Audrey, Brittnay, Samantha, Joy, Beth, Selina, Jennifer, Kim and Sharon) and Nikki (her hospice nurse) for their outstanding care of Marilyn.
