Marie R. Michalkiewicz, age 99 of Appleton passed away on April 14, 2017. Marie was born on April, 11, 1918 in Appleton to the late Edward and Mary (Weiss) Young. On July 19, 1946 she married Joseph P. Michalkiewicz in Dubuque Iowa. Marie loved to care for her grandchildren when they were young. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a devoted viewer of EWTN. Marie was known for her skills as a baker. She made awesome cinnamon rolls, homemade bisquits, and enjoyed cooking and canning. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading about her favorite president, Abe Lincoln. She liked playing cards, mending clothes, sewing and created many embroidered dish towels for her family and friends. She also enjoyed her trips with Joe to Washington DC and Niagara Falls.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Jean Michalkiewicz of Fox Crossing, Joan (fiancé Donald Vyvyan) Stellmacher of Kaukauna, James (Donna) Michalkiewicz of Appleton, Linda Flenz of Appleton and Patrick Michalkiewicz of Chicago, grandchildren, Heather Vyvyan, Lori (Bob) Harmon, Mari (Hans) Nelson, Julie (Kelly) Branner, Joseph (friend Amber) Flenz, Sara (Brian) Oberhart, Jennifer (friend Jason) Flenz, Michael Flenz, Katie (Michael) Wagner, Chad (Tracie) Michalkiewicz, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 sister and several other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, grandchild Bonnie Michalkiewicz, son-in-law Dennis Flenz, 9 siblings and many friends.

There will be a funeral Mass for Marie on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church of Appleton, 312 State Street, at 10:30am. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:00am until 10:30am. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery in Appleton. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Gardenview Assisted Living and Affinity Hospice for the care given to Marie.
