Marie C. Lenz

Age 81, passed away Friday, May 23, 2003 at the home of her daughter Diane, with whom she made her home. Marie was born in Appleton on December 1, 1921, daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose (Horn) Eckes. On January 9, 1943, she married Cletus Lenz; he preceded her in death on January 14, 2002. Marie enjoyed camping, square dancing, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a member of the Jacob Coppus Post #258 American Legion Auxiliary. Marie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Dennis and Sharon Lenz of Winneconne; a daughter and son-in-law: Diane and Bill Kappell of Little Chute; four grandchildren: Bret (Tara) Lenz, Adam (Becky) Kappell, Bob (Alyssa) Kappell, and Bonnie Kappell and her special friend Jobe; six great-grandchildren: Sean, Morgan, and Makayla Lenz, Elizabeth Cavanagh, Riley Kappell, and Carver Kappell; a brother: Anthony Eckes of Menasha; three sisters: Lorraine (Wendell) Warnke of Appleton, Helen Welsch of Appleton, and Dolores (Don) DuChateau of Appleton; a brother-in-law: Richard (Marilyn) Lenz of Little Chute. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cletus, a daughter Mary, a granddaughter Jessie (Lenz) Ver Voort, a sister Florence Oskey, a sister-in-law Margaret Eckes, and brothers-in-law Hank Welsch and David (Jan) Lenz.

A memorial service for Marie will be held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Lenz, Rev. Bob Lenz, and Rev. Jim Lenz officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the VNA of the Fox Cities – Community Hospice Foundation.
