Marie B. Van Stippen, age 91, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Rennes Health Care Center. Marie was born on December 16, 1921 in Bear Creek, WI, to the late Henry and Mary (Matuszak) Smith. On April 11, 1942, Marie married the love of her life, Martin Van Stippen, and the two spent 60 years together. Up until Marie and Martin started their family, she worked as a beautician. She and Martin were loyal members of St. Therese Catholic Church.
Marie is survived by her three children: Wisconsin; Karen (Larry) Hunt of Schertz, Texas; Susan (Eugene) Literski of New Braunfels, Texas; Martin (Tammy) Van Stippen Jr. of Appleton; brother: Henry (Sue) Smith of Gresham, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren: Trevor (Jodi), Tiffany (Mark), Aaron (Jamie) Marty J. (Candice), Bryan, Tara (Fiancé: Cole), Alex; and seven great grandchildren: Eliott, Madeline, Madi, Drew, Grace, Drew, Elise.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Van Stippen Sr.; daughter: Ann Licht; great grandchild: Abbey Janz; brothers: Donald, Aloysius “Sonny”, Robert, and Harold; sisters: Margaret and Cecilia.
A funeral liturgy for Marie will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 11:00AM at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH (213 E. Wisconsin Ave.). Fr. William Hoffman will be officiating. A time of visitation will take place at church from 9:30AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to thank the staff at both The Renaissance and Rennes Health Care Center for all of the special care given to Marie over the years. The family would also like to extend a thank you to all of the staff at Asera Care Hospice, especially Tammy for the wonderful care she provided.
