Maria “Mia” Van Himbeeck Schultz, age 88, of Appleton, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, January 28, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mia was born November 7, 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium to the late Victor and Anna (Callewaert) Van Himbeeck.
On October 24, 1946 Mia was united in marriage to Joseph H. Schultz, of Plymouth, WI in Antwerp, Belgium. Together they raised a family in Plymouth for 55 wonderful years.
Mia had a passion and a love of art, she was an accomplished painter, loved gardening, and knitting. She participated in many fine arts organizations and loved traveling to Belgium with her children throughout her life.
Most of all Mia loved her family more than anyone could, they were her whole life.
Mia is survived by her four children: Barbara Ann (Thomas) Tyler, of Appleton, Diane Jo (James) Charlton, of Brookfield, WI, Larry Victor (Jennifer) Schultz, of Berlin, WI, and Cindy Simone (Mike) Felsher, of Hartland, WI; nine grandchildren: Liza and Jackie (Jim Jervis) Tyler, Briana, and Kailey Charlton, Adam (Christina) Schultz and Elizabeth (Ben) Radke, and Geoffrey, Peter, and Jenna Felsher; two great-grandchildren: Austin and Amelia Schultz, two sisters: Paula Vanden Bruelle, of Antwerp, Belgium, and Simone Rosse, of Antwerp, Belgium; and a sister-in-law: Lisette Claes.
In addition to her husband Joseph, Mia is preceded in death by her brother, Theo Phil Van Himbeeck and her sister Magda Luycks.
A Memorial Service for Mia will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2007 at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. A time of visitation and support will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service.
Mia's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their wonderful care and support.
Bomma you are very special to us, you will be missed always. You were the center of our family.
