Greta Wenzel, 70, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Cherry Meadows Hospice. She was born on December 4, 1952, in Appleton, the daughter of Thomas and Eleanore (Van Dyke) Burke. Greta was united in marriage to Victor Wenzel in November of 1976 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Appleton. She loved to travel and take trips to the casino with Victor. Greta enjoyed reading, crocheting, and playing games on her tablet. Greta will be remembered most for her love of family and the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Greta is survived by her husband of 47 years, Victor; a son: Tony (Erin) Wenzel; 2 grandchildren: Liam and Jackson Wenzel; 2 siblings: David (Diana Coffey) Burke and Kristine (Ken) Havel; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Rosie Wenzel, Harley (Ann) Wenzel, Angie Koehler, and Sidney (Penny) Wenzel; other relatives and friends.
Greta was preceded in death by her parents and father- and mother-in-law: Benny and Sofie Wenzel.
Funeral liturgy for Greta will be held at 10:30 am, on Monday, October 30, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 W. Lawrence St., Appleton. Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass. Inurnment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to St. Joseph Food Program or the Community Blood Center.
