Margaret I. Hackbarth

Age 91, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Rennes Health Center. She was born January 28, 1915, in the town of Ellington, the daughter of the late William and Hattie Mae (Wege) Zschaechner. She first married Harvey W. Dewey and he preceded her in death in May of 1937. She then married Arthur H. Hackbarth on April 27, 1946, in Appleton. While in Appleton, Margaret worked at Zwicker Knitting Mills. They moved to the Milwaukee area in 1950 and remained there until 1968. After residing in Kenosha and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, she and Arthur retired to Appleton in 1977. He preceded her in death in December 1991. Margaret enjoyed sewing and various needlecrafts. She was a member of the United Methodist Church wherever she lived. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, her mother and father of Appleton, and her brother Kenneth who live in Hawthorne, Calif.
Survivors include her sister, Esther Zschaechner, Appleton; her son, Russell (Laurie) Hackbarth, Kenosha; and two granddaughters, Heather and Heidi.
Funeral services for Margaret will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 325 East Franklin Street, with Rev. David Brice officiating. Interment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services directly at the church. Memorials in Margaret’s name may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Franklin St., Appleton, WI, 54911.
