GAUERKE, MARGARET F.
Margaret F. Gauerke, age 94, died on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Cherry Meadows, Appleton, after a week-long illness. Margaret was born on February 13, 1914, in Edgar, WI, to the late Richard and Emma (Miller) Borchardt. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Margaret married Martin Gauerke on June 20, 1936, in Edgar, WI; he preceded her in death on September 11, 1975. She was an active member of First English Lutheran Church. Margaret was also active at the Thompson Community Center, singing in the choir and involved with volunteer work. Margaret enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking and the time she spent with her family, especially the time she spent with her twin great granddaughters. Survivors include her children, Jeanette Ellison, Spokane, WA; Richard (Jane) Gauerke, Bismarck, ND; and Mary Cooke, Appleton; her grandchildren, Bruce (Mindy) Ellison, and their daughter Rochelle, Spokane, WA; Brian Ellison, Hillsboro, OR; Tammy Collins, Portland, OR; Jeffrey (Lisa) Schabel, Kenosha; Greg Schabel, and his children, Hannah and Marty, Kenosha; Scott (Laura) Gauerke, and their children, Madisyn, Grant and Levi, Castle Rock, CO; Lisa Gauerke, Bismarck, ND; Todd Tusherer, Bismarck, ND; and Laura (Chris) Nissen, and their children Ella and Emma, Appleton; her sisters-in-law, Emma Bartman and Gertrude Leopold, both of Appleton, and Molly Gauerke, DePere; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne (Allen) Schabel; her siblings, Hilbert (Leona) Borchardt; Hertha (Henry) Baseman; Emmy (Arthur) Lueschow; Eric Borchardt; Walter (Ella) Borchardt, William (Charlotte) Borchardt; Ruth (Dick) Sears; and her infant brother, Ervin Borchardt. Funeral services will at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 East North Street, Appleton, with Rev. Michael H. Dismer officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial has been established to benefit First English Lutheran Church.
