Age 78, died at Brewster Village in Appleton on Thursday, July 19, 2007. She was born in Kaukauna on July 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Gordon and Alvira (Van Lanen) McDaniel. On April 19, 1947 she married her husband, Lyle Kaufman, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage, living for a majority of their time in Kimberly. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2006. Margaret volunteered much of her time at Holy Spirit Parish, especially taking care of the candles. Dancing and listening to country music were among her favorite activities. She visited her neighbors for many years, selling Avon products. Margaret will be dearly missed by her friends and neighbors as they spent Sunday mornings together enjoying coffee and deserts. Margaret’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very dear to her.
Margaret is survived by her children: Joe (Jane) Kaufman of Combined Locks, Bob (Lynn) Kaufman of Green Bay and Bill (Mary Kay) Kaufman of Neenah; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Charlie) Kaufman-Specht; grandchildren: Paul (Jaime), Ryan, John (Tara), Randy (Sarah), Patrick (Meggen), Lori (Tom) Merkel, Ross (Michelle), Carol (Brad) Van Camp, Julie (Tim) Martin and Kathryn; great-grandchildren: Claire Ann, Marie Jane, Anna Jo, Benjamin Richard, Dominick Gordon, Kaylynne Marie, Josi Lynn, James Michael and Quinn Daniel; twin brother and sister: James (Betty) McDaniel of Kaukauna and Jane (Dave) George of Kaukauna; and good friends, Therese and Leroy. She is preceded in death by her husband Lyle: son, Chris; her parents; sisters: Mary Sullivan and Joan (Paul) Kersten; and brothers: John “Howard” McDaniel and Victor “Vic” McDaniel.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Holy Spirit Parish, Kimberly Campus, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Sniderville.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Brewster Village for their care and concern towards Margaret.
Memorials in Margaret’s name will be given to Dementia research.
