Marcella Tennessen, age 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at a local nursing home. Marcella was born in Johnsburg, Wisconsin on February 12, 1911, daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Maloney) Wollersheim. As a young woman, she began working for her uncle, Dr. Peter Wollersheim in Forest Junction. It was in the doctor’s office that she me her future husband, Leonard Willems. She married Leonard in the early 1930’s, and with him raised a family. He passed away in 1967. Later, she married Ervin Tennessen from Hollandtown; Erv preceded Marcella in death in 1993. Over the years, Marcella worked at the White Clover Dairy, Geenen’s Store, and later became the first married woman to work at Thilmany’s. In her earlier years, Marcella enjoyed sewing and was a 4-H Instructor. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two sons: Red (Janis “Jin”) Willems of Askeaton and Ron (Cheryl) Willems of West Palm Beach Florida; a step-daughter: Dolores Neuser of Hilbert; eight grandchildren: Tammy (Dave) Quinzer, Troy Willems, Terri (Adam) Hansen, Cindy (Dave) Huebner, Rick (Margy) Miller, Kevin Miller, Jeff Miller, and Kathy (Steve) O’Bright; her grandchildren are David, Brooke, and Steven Quinzer; Courtney Willems, Brittany Miller, and Andrew and Becca O’Bright; two step-grandchildren: Jayna and Jeni Vanden Heuvel; a sister: Ermina Roegner of Appleton. Marcella was preceded in death by her husbands, a daughter Elaine (Bob) Miller, brothers Edwin (Delores) Wollersheim and Alvin Wollersheim, and a brother-in-law Henry Roegner.
The funeral liturgy for Marcella will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH – HOLLANDTOWN SITE, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday morning form 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.
