Age 88, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Franciscan Care Center. Mae was born in Castleton On The Hudson, New York, on May 30, 1914, daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Lantz) Phibbs. She lived in Castleton until moving to Appleton in 1998. She was employed at the New York Telephone Company for 49 years, retiring as one of the first female engineers in the telephone industry. Mae was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was also an organist for several churches in the Albany, New York area. Mae enjoyed gardening and animals. Mae is survived by her nephew, David Peter Phibbs, Appleton; 2 great nieces Deidre (Wayne) Koszlowski, and their children, Charlotte, Jason and Sarah; Laura Page (Kenneth) Sasiadek, and their children, Erik and Chad; a great nephew, Major Jonathan Phibbs; and 2 cousins, Maude and Willard (Ella) Lantz. She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Jeffrey Verbeke officiating. The interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Castleton on The Hudson, New York. A visitation will not be held.
