Mackenzie Mae Van Eperen, age 9, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2023. She was born to Scott and Megan (Purdy) Van Eperen on February 10, 2014, and was the sister of Madelyn. Kenzie was a student at Janssen Elementary School in Kimberly and was eagerly looking forward to starting her fourth-grade year.
When talking about Mackenzie, words like JOY, SUNSHINE, LOVE and KINDNESS abound. She was outgoing and made friends wherever she went! She could chat up anyone, any time! She enjoyed animals of all sorts- but especially her two housekitties Tuna and Pickles and her dog Amelia.
Kenzie was a total “girly girl” and loved getting her nails done, the “natural look” for her make-up, doing her hair (and that of her friends) and dressing up. The more glitter, the better-she was loud and proud! Sports were another source of joy for Kenzie-she loved karate, gymnastics, softball, basketball, swimming and always loved to play at the park. She was a free spirit, and loved TikTok dances and loved all forms of art-especially fancy writing!
She loved spending time with her cousins and her sister, and never let a moment be wasted. She lived life to the fullest and encouraged those around her to do the same with her limitless and boundless spirit. She was a goofball who loved to mug for the camera and loved all sorts of snacks-especially a grilled cheese sandwich from Chico’s.
Mackenzie loved babies and couldn’t wait to begin her teen career as a babysitter. She especially loved her 3rd grade teacher and was anxiously awaiting the day when Mrs B.’s baby would arrive.
Mackenzie is survived by her parents, her sister Madelyn, her grandparents Jeff and Sue Van Eperen and Mark Purdy, Aunts and Uncles: Mark (Lexi) Van Eperen, Brian (Tiffany) Van Eperen, Sarah (David) Johnson, Melissa Purdy and cousins whom she loved: Whitney and Harper, Landen and Laurel. She is further survived by many good friends and family and a wonderful community who is even now providing immeasurable support to her family.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Laura Purdy.
A funeral service and celebration of life for Kenzie will take place on Monday June 12, 2023. Services will take place at Appleton Alliance Church, 2693 Grand Chute Bkvd, Appleton at 2:00pm.
