Mabel Louise Zeuske, age 94, of Menasha, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 31, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mabel was born on October 12, 1924, daughter of the late Robert and Dena (Paulson) Fischer. She graduated from Bonduel High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Duane Zeuske, on June 21, 1947, in a ceremony at Ascension Lutheran Church. Mabel and Duane shared 71 years of marriage and raised four beautiful daughters.
Mabel enjoyed flower gardening, canning, baking and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting alongside her mother. In their early years, Mabel and Duane loved to bowl and socialize with the “Bowling Bunch” who remained lifelong friends. She had a strong Lutheran faith and was a long time faithful member of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church. Mabel will forever be remembered for her sweet, friendly, kind hearted demeanor.
Mabel is survived by her husband: Duane Zeuske; her daughters: Barbara (David) Hardy, Brenda (John) Valaskey, Betty (Bill) Peterson, and Bev (friend Paul) Verkuilen. She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren: Mike (Liz) Hardy, Ken and Matt Valaskey, Lauren and Angie Peterson, and James (Jamey) and Elizabeth Verkuilen: and her great grandchildren: Caleb, Chase, Ophelia, Elias, and Anthony. She is also survived by her sister: Phyllis Christianson; sister-in-law: Joyce Geiger; and brother-in-law: Gene Zeuske. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Delores (Frank) Radeske, Laura (Pete) Figlinski, and Dorothy (Harry) Jankowski; brothers-in-law: Russell Geiger, Don (Judy) Zeuske, and Dennis (Dorothy) Zeuske; as well as sister-in-law: Vi Zeuske.
The funeral services for Mabel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018, at RIVERVIEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 West Seymour St, Appleton, with Rev. Dennis Belter officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment at the Ascension Lutheran Church cemetery will be held at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Mabel’s name.
Mabel’s family would like to thank the caregivers at ManorCare Assisted Living, for their mother’s care. They would also like to thank the doctors and nursing staff on the 4th floor of St. Elizabeth Hospital, along with Perry (Orthotist) for their exceptional and compassionate care.
