Age 90, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. Mabel was born on September 15, 1910, in Grand Chute to the late Anton and Sophie (Schuh) Heckel. She married Sylvester T. Nienhaus on January 3, 1940, in Appleton; he preceded her in death on May 10, 1986. Mabel was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton, and was affiliated with Winagamie Golf Course for many years. She will always be remembered for her smile and friendly personality. Mabel is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth Nienhaus, Appleton; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Harold Heckel on September 26, 1987, and her sister Lorraine Herzfeldt on October 27, 1991. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton, with Fr. Thomas Pomeroy officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again directly at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. A memorial has been established in her name.
