Mabel L. Balke, age 95, of Appleton passed away peacefully on August 27, 2017. Mabel was born on October 28, 1921 in Matoon, Wisconsin to Delbert and Lillian (Butler) Siddens. On June 5, 1948 she was united in marriage to Ronald T. Balke and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1990. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Appleton and a former member of her church’s Fellowship Guild. She was an employee at Prange’s where she worked for over 20 years before she retired.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Eileen Balke of Appleton and Ronald B. (Darlene) Balke of Appleton, grandchildren: Lisa Marie (Steve) Radtke and Christine Anne (Bradley) Bartel, great grandchildren: Ethan and Emma Radtke and Jacob and Jason Bartel, sister, Mildred Crye of Ilinois as well as many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald T. Balke, one sister and two brothers-in-law, Emogene and Victor Empereur, and John Crye.
Funeral Services for Mabel will be on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 325 E Franklin Street in Appleton with Rev. Markus Wegenast officiating. There will be a visitation on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
The family would like to express a thank you to the staff and nurses of Appleton Retirement Community and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for the care given to Mabel.
