Wunderlich, Lyle W.
Lyle W. Wunderlich, Appleton, age 84, died Sunday evening, August 1, 2004. He was born July 21, 1920, to the late William and Caroline (Riehl) Wunderlich, in the Town of Ellington, and had been an area resident all of his life. Lyle served with the U. S. Marine Corps during WW II in the South Pacific Theatre. He had been employed by James River Paper Company, for 31 years, retiring in 1982. Lyle enjoyed golfing, woodworking and gardening. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Oney Johnston-Edward Blessman American Legion Post # 38. Survivors include his wife, Jane (Meidam) Wunderlich, whom he married on August 14, 1943; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Jane and Ronald Springer, Spring Hill, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, John Thomas and Helen Wunderlich, Evansville, WI; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kristen and Kimberly Wunderlich, Andy (Jenny) Springer and Joe Springer; a great granddaughter, Myrinda Springer; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Waldo and Millie Wunderlich, Appleton; Donald Wunderlich, Appleton; one sister and a brother-in-law, Gloria and Jim Utpadel, Appleton; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Purcell, Sherman, TX; Jeanie Ginger, San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Marion Werner and Gladys (Ralph) Ploger, Myrtle (Leo) Schroeder and Ethel Wunderlich; a brother, William and three sisters-in-law, Eunice Wunderlich and Virginia Howe and Ione Voss and a brother-in-law, Miles Meidam. Funeral services for Lyle will be held at 12:00 pm (Noon), Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 North Oneida Street, with Reverend Wendy Wirth-Brock officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 am, Wednesday, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
