Combined Locks - Lyle J. Van Dyn Hoven, 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Country Villa Assisted Living, Little Chute, surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 18, 1938, in Little Chute, the son of Frank and Helena (Spierings) Van Dyn Hoven. Lyle married Virginia Verhagen on July 26, 1958, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly.

Lyle’s true love in life was his best friend and wife Ginger of 63 years, they were inseperable. They did everything in life together, raising a family, running a successful apartment business, and enjoying family and grandchildren.

He loved spending time at the family cottage, hunting, and golfing on occasion. He worked over 40 years at the Kimberly Paper Mill, built homes on the side, and maintained the apartments. He also enjoyed going to the casino hoping to win big.

Lyle is survived by his wife: Virginia; his 6 children: Robin (Kerry) Schemmel, Mark, Vicki (Tim) Vanden Heuvel, Scott, Kurt (Ann), and Todd (Sarah) Van Dyn Hoven; 14 grandchildren: Justen (Kristy), Amber (Geoff), Zachary (Arisa), Nick, Josh (Brittany), Christina (Tony), Catherine (David), Tommy, Eric (Alana), Kyle, Kim (Brad), Dylan, Jacob, and Evan; 7 great grandchildren: Adeline, Evelyn, Hudson, Wyatt, Ayden, Liam, and Duke; a step-sister-in-law: Mary Maass, of Sun City West, AZ; and sisters-in-law: Sharon (Ed) Spang and Janet Fiedler; a special niece and nephew: Tara (Scott) Pearce and Jason (Kristina) Spang; and many other relatives and friends.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother: James; step-mother: Ruth (Maass); father- and mother-in-law: Frank and Helen Verhagen; step-brothers: Gary and William Maass; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Nancy (John “Popeye”) VanderZanden, Jim Fiedler, Dick (Luanne) Verhagen, and Frank Verhagen Jr.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Appleton Highland Memorial Park Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton, with Deacon Scott Pearce officiating. Visitation will be at the chapel from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Inurnment will be immediately following the service at the Appleton Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Lyle’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff of Country Villa Assisted Living, Barb with Right at Home Care, as well as Barbie and Danielle with Moments Hospice for their care, compassion, kindness, and support.

Lyle you are now at peace, enjoying all the hamburgers you want!
