Lyle R. Marquardt

November 4, 1934 — January 2, 2021

Lyle Reinhold Marquardt, age 86, of Neenah, took his last earthly breath, surrounded by his adoring family on January 2, 2021.

Lyle was born November 4th, 1934 in Shawano, WI to the late Reinhold and Luella (Blair) Marquardt. At age 18, Lyle enlisted in the US Navy, and would continue his service until 1960. While serving his country, he met the love of his life- the one he adored most, Katie Keddell, and the two sealed their love through marriage on July 10th, 1959. Lyle became a step-father to three boys, and Katie and Lyle would go on to raise three of their own children- Randy, Rick and Kim. Lyle was dedicated to both his family and his work. For 35 years, he was employed at Neenah Foundry. Following his retirement, Lyle found his true passion, serving the congregation at St. Thomas Church in Menasha as a custodian. Lyle adored those he served, as they did back. His devotion was rewarded with a tribute mural painted in the church. Lyle enjoyed bowling, playing softball and cards, and frequented the casino- even making the drive for one last trip to gamble just days before his last. Lyle will be remembered for his love of dish-washing (no matter the time of day or night), endearing life-advice and contagious smile.

Lyle is survived by his children, Randy (Danelle) Marquardt, Rick Marquardt and Kim Marquardt; stepsons, Steve, Ron and James Martzahl; grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke, Nicole and Trevor Marquardt, Kaila Carwin (significant other, Stephen Barnes), Ron and Fallon Marquardt; great-grandsons, Angelo and Marcel; Lyle is further survived by his sisters, Gracie and Shirley. In addition to other family and friends, family dog, Chai, deserves a special mention for being his faithful companion; ensuring grandpa always had someone by his side.

Lyle is preceded in death by his beloved bride, Katie, whom he has been longing to reunite with since her passing. Furthermore, Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, Reinhold and Luella, sisters Doris, Beattie, Elaine and Luella, brothers Harold, Roger and James and his life-long friend Stanley “Gus” Gustavus, who almost certainly greeted Lyle above with a strong 7&7 and a hand of cards.

Due to the current circumstances, a private Funeral Service will be held for Lyle at 11 AM on Friday, January 15, 2021. Family and friends may view the service via Livestream by visiting https://www.stthomaswi.com/livestream/.

Lyle’s family would like to express absolute gratification to Heartland Hospice and Father Dave for ensuring the comfort and care of both Lyle and his family. Additionally, a benevolent thank you is extended to Father Ralph, who served as a longtime friend and mentor to Lyle. Without a fraction of a doubt, Lyle spent his last days knowing he was truly loved. Lyle’s son Randy, Daughter-In-Law Danelle, daughter Kim and their children strived to ensure Lyle had the most memorable and peaceful last months. Lyle’s appreciation shined bright through his conversations with God and the hand-written notes he wrote to all. He will be truly missed, though his family is delighted Lyle has now joined his treasured Katie as sweet angels above.
