Lyle J. Gerhartz

Lyle J. Gerhartz, 94, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025. He was born on January 22, 1931, to his parents Lewis and Ruby (Hostettler) Gerhartz in Stockbridge, Wisconsin.

Lyle was raised on the family farm in Stockbridge. He graduated in 1949 from Stockbridge High School. He just received his High School Diamond Diploma for celebrating his 75th high school reunion in 2024. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty McLaughlin, on May 8, 1954. Together they raised 4 children. He worked at Hoffer Glass Co. as a glazier for 40 years before retiring in 1994.

He and Betty moved to Darboy Wisconsin in 1960. They joined Holy Angels church where he sang on the choir for about 50 years. After retirement he enjoyed volunteer work, including being a crossing guard, the grandpa patrol group, several missionary trips to 3rd world countries and St. Vincent De Paul. He loved music. He played the piano and accordion. He also liked painting with watercolors and doing crossword puzzles.

Lyle is survived by his children: Tim (Mary Kay) Gerhartz, Tammy (Mark) Haberman, Greg (Cindy) Gerhartz; grandchildren: Nicholas (Anna) Fahl, Evan (Kayla) Fahl, Dana (Erik Edsten) Haberman, Cara (Tim Regan) Haberman, Scott (Monica) Nelmark, Katelyn (Jason) Gerhartz-Gibson, Melany Gerhartz, Karli Gerhartz; great grandchildren: Alexis, Anais, Ethan, Jackson, Rylee, Adeline, Oliver, son-in-law: Ronald Fahl; siblings: Marvin Gerhartz, Donna Comerford; Sisters-in-law: Jane Gerhartz and Betty McLaughlin, along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, daughter Rebecca Fahl, siblings: Lula and Hike Schoen, Armella and Randy Thiel, Irmine and Don Denslow, Delmar and Ruth Gerhartz, Bernita and Robert Perry, Gary Gerhartz, infant sister Althea; siblings-in-law: Phyllis Gerhartz, Jack Comerford, William McLaughlin, Richard McLaughlin, Robert McLaughlin, Gerald and Nancy McLaughlin, Mary and Harry Krueger.

There will be a funeral liturgy on April 30, 2025, at Holy Spirit – Darboy, W2806 Cty Rd KK, Appleton WI, 54915. The visitation will be from 10am to noon, with the funeral mass starting at noon. Fr. Carl Schmitt will be officiating.
