Luis Felipe Vazquez, age 61, of Appleton, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Luis was born on October 5, 1951, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, to the late Juan and Isabelle (Colon) Vazquez. Luis grew up in the South Bronx, New York City, and moved to Racine, Wisconsin, in 1978 and to Appleton in 1989. He was a well-known maintenance supervisor at the Copper Leaf Hotel in Appleton. In addition to being a talented handyman, Luis loved fishing, working on his cars and music. Luis will always be remembered as having a great sense of humor. Survivor include his wife of 20 years, Mary; his sons, Anthony Vazquez and Luis F. Vazquez; his daughter, Marilee Vazquez; his grandsons, Luis “Nando” Vasquez, Richard Salinas and Nicholas Salinas; his brothers Alex (Maria) Vazquez, Victor Vazquez and Angel (Julie) Vazquez; his sisters, Evelyn Vazquez and Margie Ayala; his Godparents, Raul and Gladys Rosario; his close friends, Peter and Jeanitta Cortez and their children Sam, Judy and Priscilla; and his close friends, Edna Rosario and family. Luis is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Elliott, Benecio and Robert Vazquez; and his former wife, Maira Rosario. Memorial services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 3212 S. Oneida Street, Menasha, with Rev. Aaron Soto officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. A memorial has been established in his name. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Affinity Hospice, Dr. Teresa Lee and her staff, and Brian and Cheryl Grundman. Brian and Cheryl's generosity, kindness and understanding over the past 17 years will never be forgotten.
