Lucy Heimmermann, age 64, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at the Appleton Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1940, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Cecilia (Schettl) Drexler. Lucy grew up in Oshkosh, attending Sacred Heart School, and was a 1958 graduate of Oshkosh High School. She then attended the Mercy School of Nursing in Oshkosh, and graduated in 1961. Lucy was united in marriage to Carl Heimmermann on June 23, 1962, in Oshkosh.
Lucy started her career in nursing at Appleton Medical Center, and then St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she worked for 30 years. She retired from nursing in 1995. She enjoyed singing and music, and was a member of the Chaminade Womens' Chorus for many years. The family dog, a bichon named Barney, was a big part of the Heimmermann's daily life.
Survivors include her husband, Carl; two sons, Brian Heimmermann, of Waukesha, and Daniel (Claudia) Heimmermann, of Florence, Ala.; and a sister, Corinne (Harry) Ebmeier, of Pewaukee. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion and Joan.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton. The Rev. Robert Karuhn will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of services directly at the church. A memorial fund in Lucy's name is being established.
