Age 95, passed away Friday, January 26, 2001 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Cena was born in Little Chute on July 25, 1905, daughter of the late Albert and Lena (Green) Hartjes. On July 22, 1929, she married John Johnson in Little Chute. He preceded her in death in 1987. Lucina was a longtime, faithful, and very active member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly, where she was a member of the Ladies of Holy Name and the Mission Ladies. She was also a member of the Kimberly Golden Agers, and many will remember Lucina for her volunteer efforts at Colony Oaks Care Center in Appleton.
She is survived by two daughters: Joan (Martin) Conrad and Lorrie (Tom) Wildenberg, both of Kimberly; four grandchildren: Kim (Michael) Rusch of Appleton, Cindy (Mark) Antonie of Madison, Mary (Steve) Hooyman of Darboy, and Sandy (Dale) Oudenhoven of Little Chute; five great-grandchildren: Andy and Sarah Rusch, Zak Antonie, and Kelly and Benjamin Hooyman; four sisters-in-law: Cora Shearier of Wisconsin Rapids, Ann (Bruce) Fisher of Los Angeles, Marge (Jim) Riedel of Rockford, Illinois, and Dorothy Nimtz of Virginia, Minnesota. Lucina was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, a sister Gertrude (Martin) Vanden Heuvel, brothers-in-law Bernard Shearier, Carroll Nimtz, Joe Kellner, and George Staniforth, and sisters-in-law Gert (Joe) Gilardi and Mary Schultz.
The funeral liturgy for Lucina will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, January 29, 2001 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the hour of the liturgy.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people at both St. Elizabeth Hospital and at St. Paul Home for the care and concern shown to Lucina. You are all special people, and we will never forget your kindness.
